Lax Skin Treatment
Skin often becomes loose and begins to sag as a result of aging, weight loss or certain cosmetic procedures. Skin laxity often causes both men and women to be embarrassed by their appearance and reluctant to wear certain clothing or participate in certain activities.
As we age, collagen production naturally slows down, causing skin to lose its natural tightness. Wrinkles and other fine lines develop as the skin loses its support system and begins to droop. Significant weight loss can also cause skin laxness, as skin that was once stretched to accommodate areas of fat now just hangs over the slimmed area. This is an unfortunate side effect of procedures such as liposuction, which remove fat cells from specific areas of the body.
There are many cosmetic treatments currently available for the treatment of loose, hanging skin. Many of these treatments use laser energy to heat the cells below the surface of the skin, stimulating collagen production and tightening skin through a safe, non-invasive procedure. Other treatment options for lax skin include dermal filler injections, chemical peels and more.
